W&W ft. Kizuna AI – The Light (Official Music Video)

Uploaded to W&W’s official YouTube channel earlier this wMonth (March 2019), the duo shared their latest music video featuring Japan’s most prominent Virtual YouTuber. But while the song is almost a total 180 on what you’d expect from Kizuna AI following her previous releases, this song would definitely appeal to the rave junkies that W&W would normally appeal to. It’s very much a European dance track and carries all the staples of its genre.
It’s probably no secret that W&W are fans of Japanese pop culture. In mid-2018 the duo released a collaborative single with hardcore producer Darren Styles complete with an anime-style music video. Though you’d think it should be obvious, apparently it helps quite a lot when your hard-embedded music video subtitles aren’t straight out of Google Translate, especially when you compare it to the on-screen subtitles for “The Light”.
While his actual involvement isn’t quite detailed, it’s also mentioned quite clearly in the video description that Tokyo-based producer TeddyLoid was also involved in the creation of this song. In addition to this, the track received support from Avex’s “Future of Music” imprint. The music video was captured in real time inside TheWaveVR, a Los Angeles-based tech startup whose platform allows for concerts and events inside virtual reality spaces.

Quintino – teQno (Music Is The Answer) [Official Music Video]

More and more EDM DJ/producers have embraced classic styles of dance music of late, but Quintino’s latest fusion is particularly unexpected. The Dutch DJ/producer has released a track titled “teQno (Music Is The Answer)” that derives influence from the techno genre.
Before you get too excited, the song itself is a big room anthem made with sold-out festival crowds in mind. Incorporated throughout are droning bass lines and heavy kick drums that simply hint at the subversive aesthetic of techno. Rounding out the arrangement is a “classic ’90s vocal sample” that invigorates the concept with a singalong quality.
Quintino (real name Quinten van den Berg) broke through in 2011 with a remix of Cidinho & Doca’s “Rap Das Armas” and continues to command a sizeable following today. Last year alone, he amassed over 100 million streams on Spotify.

Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano & Bruno Martini feat. Mayra – Shameless (Official Music Video)

“We had such a blast working with Mayra and each other on ‘Savages’ and were really excited to see it do so well. In the studio, we inspire and bring out the best in each other, so we were looking to put this into practice again. The result of that is ‘Shameless’ and we hope the world will love this one as much as we had fun writing it.” ⏤ Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano

Following the success of smash single ‘Savages’, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Bruno Martini and Mayra have linked up again to reach even greater heights with their new offering. Juggling Mayra’s dynamic vocals with stellar builds and powerful, club-ready drops, ‘Shameless’ could very well be one of their biggest records of the year.

The Chemical Brothers – We’ve Got To Try (Music Video)

The Chemical Brothers have shared the latest single from their forthcoming album No Geography, “We’ve Got To Try,” along with an accompanying music video that dropped Friday.

The electronic duo’s pulsating new song is intensified by its video directed by Ninian Doff, who crafted the group’s 2015 clip for “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted.” The visual chronicles the “rags-to-riches” tale of an abandoned dog named “Girl” who after leaving the streets of London, embarks on a journey of self-discovery.

The Chemical Brothers also released a remix of the track titled “WGTT15000BPM F1 NEEEUM Mix” to celebrate the beginning of the 2019 F1 season. According to a press release, to make the remix, the track was “broken down, re-engineered and accelerated to 15,000 beats per minute (BPM) to reflect the 15,000 beats per minute (BPM) that today’s hyper-complex F1 cars are capable of reaching.”

DJ Snake – Magenta Riddim (Music Video)

What do you do when you’re DJ Snake and every single you drop is straight fire? Might as well become a firefighter and roam the streets, keeping people safe.

The French producer, who will be headlining Billboard’s Hot 100 Fest this summer, poses as such a public servant in the music video for “Magenta Riddim.” Its melody features heavy Indian inspiration, so the clip takes place in India too. It’s colorful and funky, just like the single, and it’ll have you smiling and dancing before you know it. Viewer beware: There is a spicy twist at the end of this tale. Can you handle the truth? SOFI TUKKER – Batshit (Official Video)

There’s a lot happening in “Batshit,” the new music video by New York duo Sofi Tukker. Set in the desert, it lives up to its title — and serves as the perfect antidote for the cruelties this endless winter is inflicting on everyone’s wardrobes. All the looks (heavy on hot pants, neon, and halters) will make you want to stash your parka.

Sofi Tukker, who sometimes perform songs in Portuguese, received acclaim last year with their slinky, breakout single “Best Friend,” which you probably recognize from an iPhone commercial. For “Batshit”, Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern wanted to lean into the title and channel raw, crazy fun.

Cue stylist Olivia Perdoch, who whipped up custom platforms for the six-seven Halpern and coaxed Hawley-Weld into “whole new worlds” fashion-wise.

Hawley-Weld’s looks include a red sequin Cheng jumpsuit, worn as she shreds her guitar atop a mountain. Although she says this was her “favorite video shoot of all time” because “I felt like myself,” she also stepped out of her comfort zone by embracing pieces like the white, over-the-knee Okoko & Abel boots. “I am totally new to heels,” she told the Cut. “The way I end up walking in them feels totally powerful.”

Essentially, “Batshit” is a wild, metallic-tinged ode to bad decisions and late nights featuring gorgeous textiles and supporting appearances by a neon lasso and a hatchet. This article originally appeared in The Cut.
